QUALIFICATIONS:

ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- At least 20 years of age.
- Pass Work Steps physical (if hired after August 2007) or requested by Supervisor/Central Office)
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalency (GED) and having a passing score (450) on the PRAXIS Parapro test, or possess an Associate Degree (Arts, Science, or Applied Science) or higher or possess 48 college hours that includes 3 hours in English Composition, 6 hours in English/Reading, and 6 hours in Math.
- Possess a current CPR and First Aid certificate. Must be updated and submitted annually.

Description |

|
REPORTS TO: Teacher, Administrator
JOB GOAL: To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational benefit for Title I students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff.
- Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
- Monitors work, corrects papers, and supervises curriculum-based testing and makeup work as assigned by the certified staff.
- Serves as the chief source of information and help to any guest teacher assigned in the absence of the regular certified staff.
- Performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the certified staff.
- Alerts the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, play periods, and on field trips.
- Performs assigned non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack time, toileting, and clothing routines.
- When requested, serves as a resource person to the School Building Level Committee (SBLC) and/or Title 1 Team(s).
- Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community.
- All paras must attend mandatory training sessions as directed by the school principal and/or parish supervisors of paras. This training includes a yearly update of the following information:
- Psrsonnel information
- Confidentiality
- Medical information
- Discipline
- Job description review
- Universal precautions
12. All paras must maintain annual certification and submit documentation by July 30th:
- CPR
- First Aid
13. Maintains safe working environment and encourages colleagues to be safety minded in the performance of all school-related duties. 14. Performs other such duties / assignments as directed by the certified staff and / or immediate supervisor.
